Dear Mr. Dahm:

\JI have delayed answering your letter of Dec. 8th in the hopes that I
would find time to do the necessary refreshing of my memory so that I
could supply you with useful information. It has been some time since I
have done anything with the checker program and I simply do not remember
the details well enough to answer you.

The most recent version of the code is written in FAIL, an assembly
language for the PDP10. I could supply you with a copy of this but it is
very large, of the order of 400 pages in print-out form, and I hate to tie
up our printer long enough to list it for you. I have made copies of this
available to several people in the past, but they have always found it to
be almost impossible to read. While there are some comments in the code
they are entirely too meager to be of much use.

The earlier version was written in assembly language for the 7090 but I
would be hard pressed to lay my hands on a copy of this. I do have it in
punch card form but we do not have a card reader.

I am afraid that this is not very helpful, but the press of other things
never seems to let up.\.

Arthur L. Samuel
